“Then. Now. Forever. Together.” The WWE video leads us into the show.
WWE Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn is shown entering the Centre Bell earlier today. The hometown favorite gets a big reception. World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest is also in the building. We will also hear from Undisputed WWE Champion “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes. “Main Event” Jey Uso entered the building earlier today.
We’ll also examine what happened with Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Jimmy Uso this past Friday on SmackDown.
“THIS IS MY BRUTALITY!”
Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley makes her way to the ring with her right arm in a sling. She does not look happy. Ripley gets in the ring and is sneering. A “Mami” chant fires up. Raw General Manager Adam Pearce is also in the ring. Ripley says, “So, obviously, you guys know what’s going on right now, yeah?” Ripley looks like she’s holding back tears. After the attack last week by Liv Morgan, she’s been told that she’s stuck on the bench for quite a few months. Ripley says she’s pissed off because she’s been told she needs to vacate the one thing that means the most to her: the Women’s World Championship. The crowd chants, “NO!” Ripley looks at the title. The crowd chants, “Bulls–t,” and Ripley says, “Yeah, it is.” Ripley says the title means the most to her in her entire life. That’s why this is so painful. Ripley lays the Women’s World Championship down on the mat and pulls at her hair. A “Thank you, Mami” chant picks up.
Ripley says, “Revenge Tour… this is all because of your stupid Revenge Tour, Liv.” She could’ve actually had respect for Morgan, but instead, Morgan blindsided her. Ripley understands because she would have dropped Morgan where she stood. This is a warning to whoever wins her Women’s World Championship. When she comes back, she’s coming back for blood. The crowd cheers. Ripley says she’s not going to be gone because of an injury. When she finds Morgan, Ripley will be locked up in Montreal jail.
Liv Morgan’s music hits, and she comes out with security, trying to hold her back. Morgan is laughing at the former champion. Ripley yells at them to let Morgan go. Ripley gets out of the ring, but she’s held back. Morgan is pulled away and continues to laugh at Ripley. The crowd loudly boos Morgan. Ripley lays out a security guard with a head-butt, but she doesn’t advance further.
Rhea Ripley has vacated the Women’s World Championship due to an injury to her right arm. Obviously this is devastating news on a lot of fronts: for the women’s roster, for Judgment Day, for “Dirty” Dom… hopefully they keep her in the mix like they’ve done with CM Punk. #WWERaw— Wrestleview.com (@wrestleview) April 16, 2024
I think they can turn Liv Morgan into a big heel coming off this. She should win the title and set up that return match quickly. #WWERaw— Wrestleview.com (@wrestleview) April 16, 2024

Backstage Segment
Former Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley is walking backstage, looking very dejected. The Judgment Day is waiting for her, and they embrace her. World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest says she’ll be more badass than ever when she comes back. They love her. Ripley tells them to make sure Judgment Day stays on top and to look out for “Dirty” Dom.
Sheamus is back! He’s wearing green athletic shorts and has his old theme song. This is his first match since August 2023, when he was defeated by “Edge” Adam Copeland. Michael Cole says Sheamus has been battling neck issues. Pat McAfee mentions it was a nerve issue, and he had surgery to repair it.
Sheamus vs. Ivar
The bell rings, and they stand across the ring from each other. The crowd buzzes for Sheamus’ return. They lock up, but they quickly break it. They lock up again, and Sheamus hooks a side headlock. Ivar backs him into the ropes and whips him off. Sheamus hits a shoulder tackle that knocks Ivar into the ropes. Sheamus then absorbs a shoulder tackle. The crowd chants, “Let’s go, Sheamus.” Sheamus is fired up. They exchange some forearms. Sheamus hits the ropes, ducks a clothesline, and takes him down with a running shoulder tackle. Sheamus has him on the apron and sets up for the 10 Beats of the Bodhran, but Ivar snaps the neck off the top rope. Ivar heads to the top rope, but Sheamus cuts him off. Sheamus stands on the second rope and impressively powers Ivar up for super White Noise! Wow!

Back from the break, Ivar hits the ropes, but Sheamus takes him down with a tilt-a-whirl powerslam. Ivar rolls to the apron to recover, but the apron is not a safe spot when Sheamus is lurking. Sheamus hooks Ivar’s arms on the ropes and connects with the 10 Beats of the Bodhran. Ivar drops and rolls back into the ring. Sheamus lifts Ivar, but Ivar slides off and boots him back. Ivar then floors him with a nasty spin kick. Ivar heads to the top rope and hits a huge splash! 1… 2… Sheamus kicks out. Ivar is shocked and pulls at his beard in frustration.
Sheamus is sitting in the corner looking broken, but he challenges Ivar to give him more. Ivar punches away at him, but Sheamus takes it. Sheamus gets to his feet and fights back. Ivar pushes him off, cartwheels around him, and knees him in the midsection. Ivar springboards off the second rope into a big knee to the face. Sheamus pulls his kneepad down and connects with the Kneecap. Sheamus sets up in the corner and connects with a Brogue Kick for the win in his first match in eight months.
Winner by Pinfall: Sheamus
Great to see Sheamus back after eight months of dealing with neck issues. Sheamus is one of my favorites. I love the physicality of his matches and how he goes all out, whether it’s WrestleMania season or the middle of the fall. #WWERaw— Wrestleview.com (@wrestleview) April 16, 2024
The camera goes over to Michael Cole and Pat McAfee, but a sweaty Sheamus approaches them and wraps his arms around them in celebration. Cole expertly transitions to the Intercontinental Championship match.

“TIME TO PLAY THE GAME!”
WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque makes his way to the ring. Raw General Manager Adam Pearce is in the ring. The ring is decorated with a red carpet and has a table in the center. It looks like a black cloth is covering a championship belt. The crowd is going wild.
Levesque says it’s hard to believe it was only eight days ago they were in the midst of the greatest WrestleMania of all time. At WrestleMania 40, kingdoms fell, nightmares began, and a whole new era started. Adam Pearce says that a new era began for the Tag Team Division. The talent has never been deeper. We walked in with one set of champs and left with two. Raw and SmackDown deserve titles they can be proud of going into this new era.
Raw Tag Team Champions Awesome Truth make their way to the ring. R-Truth and The Miz come out to a great reception. The crowd chants, “You deserve it.” Levesque asks, “What’s up?” He then congratulates them. In probably the biggest tag match in history, they made history. Levesque says from a personal perspective, seeing R-Truth have that WrestleMania moment was awesome. Levesque says it’s a new era. If they’re going to represent this brand and the Tag Team Championships, they need to do it in a way that represents an all-new era. Going forward, they will be known as the World Tag Team Champions. They’ll be wearing these: they unveil brand new Tag Team Titles.
R-Truth flips out. He’s seen a rabbit come out of a hat, as well as birds. He’s even seen them cut a lady in half, only for her to walk away. R-Truth has never seen a trick like this. Miz looks confused. R-Truth knows a good magician when he sees one. They made titles “appear out of thin oxygen.” Levesque asks Miz to explain this to R-Truth. Miz says, “He’s not a magician.” R-Truth says he’d expect a magician to say that. R-Truth doesn’t trust magicians after Little Jimmy. Everyone used to be able to see him. What else is Levesque hiding? Miz says this is exactly what they wanted. This is one of the most important times in WWE. This is their chance to elevate the Tag Team Division. Miz says, “That’s why Adam Pearce and Triple H…” but R-Truth cuts him off and asks where Triple H is. He then says, “I see right through you, Tommaso Ciampa.” R-Truth thinks Paul Levesque is Ciampa. Miz uses some of the French he learned from his wife, Maryse, and the crowd goes crazy. Miz speaks French to R-Truth, and he understands. The crowd chants, “Oui!” Levesque asks if he can leave. He then takes the old Raw Tag Team Titles and gives them the World Tag Team Championship. Levesque shakes hands with them and wishes Pearce luck. Awesome Truth holds up the new titles to loud applause.
Pearce asks them why they made the boss leave the ring. Pearce says the only thing we have to do is figure out who their first challengers will be. It’s time for the Triple Threat Match to determine the #1 Contenders for the World Tag Team Championship.
#DIY makes their way to the ring in gear that is designed to look like DX gear.

Not one of R-Truth’s better comedy segments, but he can’t be funny every week. This one felt a little forced. I correctly called this on Post-#WWERaw last week that we’d get new titles. I don’t hate these titles. They’re a kind of offshoot of the World Heavyweight Title.— Wrestleview.com (@wrestleview) April 16, 2024

As the New Day makes their way to the ring, the screen glitches out, perhaps signaling Uncle Howdy’s return.

The Creed Brothers go for a Brutus Ball, but Kingston pushes Brutus off the top rope into a superkick from Woods at ringside. Julius leaps to the top rope and hits Kingston with a superplex. Woods immediately follows up with a flying elbow drop on Julius. #DIY quickly sandwich Woods with Meet in the Middle. Ciampa covers Woods for the win.
Winners by Pinfall: #DIY
Awesome Truth look at the #1 Contenders for their World Tag Team Championship.
Great triple threat tag match, if only for the fact that all three teams were allowed to have someone in the match at the same time. I hate that stupid rule for multi-person tags where only two teams can have someone in. It’s lazy producing. Glad they fixed this! #WWERaw— Wrestleview.com (@wrestleview) April 16, 2024
Video: Last week on Raw, CM Punk stopped Drew McIntyre from hitting a Claymore Kick on Jey Uso, costing him the #1 Contendership for the World Heavyweight Championship.

The referee doesn’t see the tag and holds Nile back. Hartwell gets a cheap shot in on Maxxine and puts LeRae on top of her. The referee counts the pin.
Winners by Pinfall: Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell
After the disgusting attempt at a storyline using the real-life death of Maxxine’s brother, I just couldn’t muster any strength to care about this any further. #WWERaw— Wrestleview.com (@wrestleview) April 16, 2024
A tweet is shown of World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest standing with Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees last week.

Good match with “Dirty” Dom and Andrade. “Dirty” Dom looked quite good at moments in this. That said, unless they’re going for a collapse in the influence of the Judgment Day post-Rhea, the Judgment Day should be going over strong tonight after losing her. #WWERaw— Wrestleview.com (@wrestleview) April 16, 2024
