Joel Embiid has had some tough physical problems lately.
Not only has the reigning MVP suffered a nasty knee injury this season, but he has gotten banged up again and again and is currently battling a case of Bell’s palsy.
But amid that bad news comes some good: the Philadelphia 76ers beat the New York Knicks on Thursday evening.
Following the game, Embiid spoke about just how physical the series has been and how that doesn’t deter him from playing hard.
“They want to bring the physicality. We can get physical, too, and we are. So I mean, it goes both ways. I get bumped all over the place, and I just keep playing,” Embiid said, per Keith Pompey via NBACentral.

Embiid definitely got physical during Game 3 and it rubbed some people the wrong way.
He was dealt a flagrant foul after grabbing the leg of Knicks big man Mitchell Robinson during the first quarter.
When Embiid fell to the ground, trying to draw a foul, he grabbed Robinson’s right leg and seemingly tugged at it.
Robinson was already questionable before Game 3 because of an existing ankle injury.
He would have leg problems for the rest of the game and was eventually ruled out after halftime.
Multiple Knicks players were angered by Embiid’s move and called it dirty.
As for fans of the team, they immediately made Embiid public enemy number one.
Embiid said he didn’t mean to hurt anyone and regretted the situation but the damage had already been done and now Knicks fans are angered at the Sixers star and want to see him taken down in Game 4 and beyond.
It’ll be interesting to see how physical the next games in the series get, especially after Embiid’s statement and actions.
