Shannon Sharpe continues to be a well-loved figure by NFL fans and players.
But while he helps out anyone willing to listen and learn, he is also outspoken regarding the anomalies in the sport that made him a household name.
For many years he called out many of these issues through his platform on FS1’s Undisputed.
After his seven-year stint with that program, he’s still sharing his thoughts and building his brand through the Club Shay Shay podcast.
Recently, he used his show to give current NFL players some advice regarding contract negotiations.
“Not one time have you heard the NFL give these networks a discount, but they want a millionaire to give a billionaire a discount. Where they do that at?” Sharpe said.
. @ShannonSharpe tells @NFL players to NEVER give owners discounts:

He believes that players should negotiate their deals based on prevailing market conditions.
Likewise, the Pro Football Hall of Fame tight end pointed out that the league doesn’t give discounts to television networks for broadcasting rights.
With the NFL players being at high risk for injury, players have the right to fight for every penny.
One vicious hit can end someone’s career, which could have big implications on their future income.
Conversely, football’s highly physical nature also discourages team owners from giving fully-guaranteed contracts.
