The New Orleans Saints began the offseason unexpectedly, signing Derek Carr to a four-year contract.
After this signing, the Saints have been relatively quiet during the offseason.
However, the team has recently announced another surprising addition, signing Jimmy Graham to a one-year deal.

Graham is a 12-year NFL veteran, spending time with the Saints, Seattle Seahawks, Green Bay Packers, and Chicago Bears.
Now, he’ll have an opportunity to reunite with the team that drafted him and have an impact with a new quarterback.
The Saints have five other tight ends, including newly-signed Foster Moreau.
Moreau signed a three-year deal with the Saints, which means that he’s a likely candidate to stick around.
Jessie James and Lucas Krull could find themselves on the chopping block, as the Saints will likely need to make roster space for Graham.
The addition of Graham gives the impression that the Saints feel great about Carr’s chances to lead them on a deep playoff run.
Graham hasn’t appeared in an NFL game since the 2021 season, where he logged 14 receptions for 167 yards and three touchdowns.
He, too, seems excited to team up with Carr.
Generally, players of Graham’s caliber only come back to the league for a particular circumstance.
When the Saints came calling, he came marching back to the organization.
Whether Graham still has enough left in the tank remains to be seen.
For now, however, Saints fans appreciate this familiar face joining the lineup and hope he will be an impact player for them right away.
