Expert NFL predictions are mostly meaningless, as we all know anything can happen in the playoffs.
Then again, more often than not, teams, coaches, and players use them as motivation to try and prove them wrong, especially when no one chose them to find success in the season.
That might be the case again now that the NFL GameDay crew has released its official Super Bowl picks, and it seems like they couldn’t reach a consensus.
Notably, Rich Eisen’s prediction caught everybody’s eye.

This time, the renowned radio host chose the San Francisco 49ers to hoist the Vince Lombardi trophy by beating the Baltimore Ravens in the big game.
Needless to say, there’s no reason to believe the Niners won’t make it out of the NFC, especially considering they took care of business against pretty much everybody in their conference.
Then again, they didn’t exactly fare well when they had to go against the Ravens, a team that set a record for beating ten teams with a winning record last season.
Of course, the playoffs are a whole different thing, and the Ravens do have a history of coming short at this point in the season.
But the fact of the matter is that one can never know what’s going to happen in a win-or-go-home scenario, and that’s the beauty of the postseason.
Predictions won’t matter, and neither will everything that was said or written.
It’s go time.
