Just three weeks into the 2023 NFL season, Los Angeles Rams rookie wide receiver Puka Nacua has already caught the attention of one of the best defensive players in the league.
With 30 catches in his first three games with the Rams, San Francisco 49ers All-Pro linebacker Fred Warner sent some praise Nacua’s way on a recent episode of his podcast.
“In Seattle, Week 1, bro goes off for over 100 yards, over 10 catches, alright. Now, anybody can do it once, we know that. [In Week 2,] he goes off and goes for what, 15 catches for 140-something? He balled, and I’m happy as hell for him. I mean I’m not happy that he did it against us [in Week 2], but I’m just happy for him and his success.”

Warner also mentioned how he’s known about Nacua’s potential for a while since the linebacker spent his college career playing at BYU with the wide receiver’s brother, Kai Nacua.
Warner said he could just tell almost immediately that the young Rams receiver had the mindset to succeed at the NFL level.
Well, so far, the 49ers linebacker is right, as Nacua has gotten off to a blazing-fast start just three games into his pro career.
For the Los Angeles rookie, his opportunities this season came about mostly due to Rams All-Pro wide receiver Cooper Kupp being unable to play due to a hamstring injury.
Los Angeles is hoping to have Kupp back at some point this season, but for now, they’ve got to be happy with what Nacua has been able to do out on the field.
At 6-foot-1, 205 pounds, Nacua makes up for what he lacks in size with his strong football IQ and his ability to easily create separation from a defender attempting to cover him.
Despite already catching 30 passes for 338 yards this season, the Rams rooke is still looking for his first NFL touchdown.
Nacua’s next opportunity to find the end zone will take place this upcoming Sunday when Los Angeles travels east to take on the Indianapolis Colts.
