Star quarterbacks around the NFL have been getting paid lately, with some of the best and brightest at the position resetting the market repeatedly.
Recently, Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson, and Jalen Hurts have all inked new deals, making them among the wealthiest players in the league.
A few years ago, Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes reset the market by agreeing to a massive deal with the storied franchise.
After the Chiefs completed Week 2 of the 2023 NFL season with a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, the team restructured Mahomes’ contract, which will pay him the most amount of money ever over a four-year span, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes have restructured his agreement, giving him $210.6 million between 2023 and 2026, the most money in NFL history over a four season span. His compensation for those years is now guaranteed. Also, the Chiefs and Mahomes plan to re-visit the agreement… pic.twitter.com/7a2vlt9Si2

No quarterback in the league is more deserving of the money he’s paid than Mahomes, who has proved time and time again that he’s the best player in the NFL.
As long as Mahomes continues to play at a high level for the Chiefs while competing for Super Bowl titles on an annual basis, he’ll continue to get paid that way, as Kansas City will want him to feel valued, which he likely does at this point in time.
Fortunately for Mahomes, the Chiefs were able to get back on track in Week 2, as they bounced back from the season-opening loss to the Detroit Lions with a win over the Jaguars.
Although the Jaguars gave the Chiefs some trouble on Sunday, in what was far from a pretty performance for either team, Kansas City was able to get the win.
