Week 3 of the 2023 NFL season is in the books, and a few things are just starting to take shape across the league.
The playoff hopes for some teams are looking grim, most of the teams that were expected to be contenders are playing well, and just about every quarterback has committed a turnover.
However, only one hasn’t, and it’s Justin Herbert of the Los Angeles Chargers.

Through three games, Herbert has thrown for 939 yards and six touchdown passes while completing 74.4 percent of his passes and putting up a 112.9 passer rating.
He ranks second in passer rating and third in passing yards, and he is leading everyone in completion percentage.
On Sunday versus the Minnesota Vikings on the road, he was prolific, completing 40 of 47 passes for 405 yards while notching three touchdown passes and getting sacked just once.
The problem for Herbert is that his team is only 1-2 and is going to be shorthanded for a while.
Mike Williams, one of the Chargers’ top two wide receivers, tore his ACL on Sunday and will be out for the rest of the season, while star safety Derwin James Jr. exited the contest with a hamstring injury.
Williams’ injury may mean that rookie wideout Quentin Johnston, a first-round draft pick, may get more opportunities and will have to step up — he has caught only five balls for 26 yards so far this year.
The Chargers will host the rival Las Vegas Raiders next week before they have their bye week prior to playing the Dallas Cowboys in Week 6.
