The Miami Dolphins were firing on all cylinders during their 2023 home opener.
They scored 70 points against the Denver Broncos and won by 50.
It’s so rare that only three teams had scored 70 points in a game previously.
But even if the Dolphins are the talk of the football world after that performance, Nick Wright still has concerns about them.
Specifically, he wonders if a team accustomed to fair and sunny weather can pull off victories under harsh conditions.
“Miami is scary, but can they keep it up in the cold in January? The idea that they’ve separated themselves from the entire NFL is inaccurate. I’m not ready to anoint them, but 70 points is 70 points,” Wright said during a recent episode of his What’s Wright? Podcast.

Wright has a solid argument because the Dolphins might struggle when they must go on the road to cold weather climates like Cleveland, Buffalo, or Cincinnati during the postseason.
Therefore, the only way Wright sees it working is if the Dolphins keep winning to ensure home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs.
Playing for a supportive crowd and favorable weather could be vital to their success.
But after putting up 70 points, the Dolphins will face a real challenge when they visit the surging Buffalo Bills in Week 4.
A win against the three-time defending AFC East champions will give Miami more legitimacy as an AFC contender.
The battle won’t be easy, though, because Josh Allen and the Bills have found their stride following their disappointing Week 1 performance.
Regardless of the outcome, it’s a game that might have playoff implications this early in the season.
