After winning the Super Bowl, the Kansas City Chiefs haven’t been very aggressive in the offseason.
They have lost out on several key contributors, with many former players moving on in free agency.
With training camp already starting, the Chiefs haven’t decided on Chris Jones’ contract extension.
Jones was a Defensive Player of the Year finalist last season, a significant reason for the Chiefs’ title run.
In a recent segment on ‘First Things First,’ Nick Wright predicted Jones’ future with the team.
“If they don’t get a deal done this offseason, then he’s not going to be a Chief long-term,” Wright said.
"Chris Jones is going to be on the Chiefs this year, he's not going to miss games. But if they don't get a deal done this offseason then he's not going to be a Chief long-term — that would put the 3-peat in jeopardy."

If this extension doesn’t happen, as Wright says, “That would put the 3-peat in jeopardy.”
A 3-peat, or winning three-straight championships, has never happened in the NFL.
The last team to win consecutive Super Bowls was the New England Patriots, winning two straight in 2004 and 2005.
Many analysts, including Wright, believe the Chiefs have what it takes to regain the Lombardi Trophy in 2023.
Jones is a massive piece of this defense and a member of the organization since 2016.
He is coming off a career year, totaling 44 tackles and 15.5 sacks, including one forced fumble.
If he ends up leaving the Chiefs due to contract differences, that would be a colossal loss for the franchise.
Will the Chiefs reach an extension with Jones before the beginning of the season?
That remains to be seen, but it’s something that Chiefs fans heavily anticipate.
Now that training camp is underway, however, the clock is ticking.
