The San Francisco 49ers were quite close to starting the season without their best player.
Star DE Nick Bosa held out throughout the course of training camp and the preseason as he pursued a contract extension.
Both parties were always optimistic about their ability to get a deal done, but with the regular season just around the corner, it seemed like things could’ve gotten complicated.
Needless to say, Kyle Shanahan has eased him back into the action, slowly but steadily increasing his defensive snap count, as he’s pretty much using these first three games as his preseason to get back to full form.
Nonetheless, Bosa believes his body is already back to football shape, adding that his body has fully adapted to the game and should have no more limitations going forward (via ProFootballTalk):
“I think getting through the Thursday for me was big,” Bosa said, via 49ersWebzone.com. “Just getting thrown right into football, I was feeling it. But getting through that, being able to finish out Week 3, I think my body’s fully adapted to football now, and it’s going to be good from here.”

Bosa was back to his best in Thursday night’s win over the New York Giants, logging his first sack of the season.
He should be one of the frontrunners to win Defensive Player of the Year again, considering that it didn’t take long before we saw him back to his best.
Being one of the most impactful defenders on an elite defensive unit, Bosa’s presence changes everything around him, which is why the Niners could never afford to have him sitting out.
Up next, the Niners have a divisional date with the Arizona Cardinals, a team coming off an emotional first win of the season.
This time, however, they’ll face a bit of a tougher challenge.
