Contract negotiations in the NFL seem to be getting tougher and tougher, even for the best players in the league at key positions like star defensive end Nick Bosa of the San Francisco 49ers.
After winning the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award last season, Bosa headed into the offseason with a contract extension on his mind, as he made a strong case to be the highest-paid player at his position in the NFL.
Unfortunately for the All-Pro defensive end, the negotiations with the 49ers have gone on a little longer than expected, with Bosa now not expected to be at the team’s training camp as the two sides continue to work on a new contract for the 25-year-old rising star.
According to Ari Meirov, Bosa could be on the cusp of signing a massive contract extension, as he could approach $30 million a year and be in the same category as Aaron Donald of the Los Angeles Rams.
Nick Bosa's contract extension whenever it gets done is going to be a monster one. Could very well end up becoming the second defensive player to enter the $30 million per year club, alongside Aaron Donald. https://t.co/ZuNs678l7O

When healthy and on the field, Bosa seems to have no equal as he is a menace on the defensive side of the football and always a constant threat to sack the opposing quarterback.
However, Bosa has dealt with some bumps and bruises during his short career thus far and missed almost all of the 2020 campaign due to injury, playing in only two games.
Despite his injury issues, the 49ers clearly value Bosa as a game-changing player on defense and want to make him a wealthy man moving forward, with the two sides potentially seeing eye-to-eye on a new deal sooner rather than later.
