After a failed stint with the Indianapolis Colts following a successful run with the Atlanta Falcons, veteran quarterback Matt Ryan decided to call it a career, as he knew he had nothing left in the tank.
Even though Ryan feels like his playing days are over, his agent did their due diligence to gauge interest in potentially filling in for Aaron Rodgers on the New York Jets, as the star will miss the rest of the season due to a torn Achilles tendon.
The Jets don’t seem to have much faith in Zach Wilson, and after two straight losses, it is easy to see why, as the team wants to salvage the season and needs a proven veteran under center to do so.
Ryan recently addressed the speculation about the Jets and about potentially playing out the rest of the season in New York.
He made it abundantly clear that he’s retired and has no interest in starting things up again because he’s enjoying what he’s doing now off the field, via NFL on CBS.
“I got no interest in doing that right now.”

With Ryan’s name being crossed off the list of candidates for the Jets, it’ll be interesting to see who the team might go after next to help bolster the quarterback position in New York for the rest of the 2023 campaign.
It might be a hard sell for older quarterbacks with the offensive line in New York not exactly being top-notch.
