The 2023 NFL season hasn’t gotten off to the kind of start the Cincinnati Bengals were hoping for, as the team is now in a 0-2 hole after losing to the division-rival Baltimore Ravens in Week 2.
Even though Sunday’s performance against the Ravens was much better than the one against the Cleveland Browns in Week 1, the Bengals are still struggling to get back to their form as a legitimate Super Bowl title contender in the AFC.
As if things weren’t bad enough for the Bengals after two straight losses to start the season, Burrow tweaked the calf that he injured during training camp in the loss to the Ravens.
According to James Palmer of NFL Network, Burrow said he tweaked his calf and admitted it is pretty sore at the moment, which is obviously not a great sign for the Bengals moving forward.
Burrow did add they are going to wait and see how it feels in the next couple days. Burrow said it’s pretty sore right now. https://t.co/vqwfWZCJgO

Calf strains like hamstring strains can be tricky injuries that can flare up like this at any moment, even if it seems like the injury is fully healed.
That may be the case here with Burrow, which could become a persistent problem throughout the 2023 NFL season and a significant concern for the Bengals and their hopes to contend for a title this season.
In Week 2 against the Ravens, Burrow threw for 222 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception, which is a vast improvement from Week 1 when he threw for a career-low 82 yards against the Browns.
It’s unfortunate that Burrow’s calf injury would flare up after he was seemingly getting back on track, as the Bengals only lost to the Ravens by three.
