While he’s reportedly considering staying in Ann Arbor to continue coaching Michigan, Jim Harbaugh could also take the first step toward his NFL return today.
According to a report by Adam Schefter of ESPN, he’s expected to meet with the Los Angeles Chargers.
However, Schefter also adds that a decision isn’t imminent by either side, as Harbaugh still needs to consider all his options, and the Chargers will conduct more interviews.

There have been multiple reports about the Chargers being quite high on him for quite a while now, although they also have more candidates in line for the head coaching vacancy, maybe even including legendary HC Bill Belichick.
Harbaugh also reportedly has interest from the Washington Commanders and Las Vegas Raiders, although the latter could stick with interim coach Antonio Pierce, who made a strong impression in half a season and has the players’ support to stay in charge.
The table is set for Harbaugh to get back to the NFL in 2024, especially if he’s forced to serve another NCAA-imposed suspension to start the year.
He could be leaving Ann Arbor as a legend after leading the Wolverines to the National Championship.
Then again, he’s got strong ties to the program, and convincing him to just walk away won’t be as easy as it seemed at first.
