The Philadelphia Eagles offense hasn’t been as explosive as it was last season, but their defense picked up things where they left them.
After forcing six turnovers in the first two weeks of the campaign, they were even more impressive in their 25-11 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night.
They held Todd Bowles’ team to just 174 total yards of offense while forcing two more turnovers to keep an immaculate 3-0 record.
One of their takeaways came right before the end of the second quarter, with first-round pick Jalen Carter snatching the football and setting the table for a field goal.
Notably, that recovered fumble happened just one play after he stripped the ball away from Baker Mayfield on one sack, but the Bucs were able to recover.
That’s why the Georgia product raved about the Eagles’ defensive unit, talking about how much confidence they have in each other and how every player embraces and plays within their role, regardless of the experience or the ego (via ProFootballTalk).
“This defense is awesome,” Carter said, via Ed Kracz of SI.com. “I love this defense. Everybody trusts one another, plays their roles, and does what they have to do. When one goes down it’s the next man up and we don’t worry about who it is, we trust him as much as the guy who started the game. I love this defense.”

This was a very special day for the first-round pick.
He said that he had plenty of friends and family in attendance, which was no surprise, considering Raymond James Stadium is just about 100 miles from his hometown of Apopka, Florida.
There were several concerns and questions about Carter’s character and work ethic, which eventually led to him slipping during draft night.
Still, he was considered one of the best — if not the best — prospects in this year’s class, which is why GM Howie Roseman didn’t hesitate to take a chance on him.
