J.J. Watt was one of the best defenders to ever play in the NFL.
Even in his final year with the Arizona Cardinals, he still had 12.5 sacks.
But at the peak of his career, he was unstoppable, winning three NFL Defensive Player of the Year awards.
That dominance had the Houston Texans’ social media handlers arguing that he should have been the 2014 NFL Most Valuable Player.
But Watt declined that thought by tweeting, “The honest truth is that it’s physically impossible for any one player to be more “valuable” than the quarterback. They touch the ball every single play. A QB should always win MVP. “Best Player” and “MVP” are often, but not always the same. (Aaron was very deserving IMO)”

As the Texans’ Twitter account pointed out, Watt had five touchdowns, 20.5 sacks, and 78 tackles that season.
He added five fumble recoveries, an interception, and a safety to those numbers, making him a First Team All-Pro member.
But while Watt had a superb 2014 season, the Texans finished their campaign at 9-7, out of playoff contention.
As Watt revealed, Aaron Rodgers won league MVP honors that season.
Rodgers led the Green Bay Packers to a 12-4 record with 341 completions for 4,381 yards, 38 touchdowns, and only five interceptions.
He also earned a First Team All-Pro nod out of those numbers.
The Packers reached that season’s NFC Championship game but lost to the Seattle Seahawks in overtime.
Watt may not have won league MVP that year, but he will undoubtedly be a first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Famer once he’s eligible for enshrinement.
