The Chicago Bears were expected to take a leap in the 2023 NFL season as they revamped the roster around Justin Fields.
However, the start of the year didn’t go according to plan as the Bears were embarrassed by the Green Bay Packers in Week 1.
Fields went on a tear toward the end of the 2022 NFL campaign, but he looked more like his rookie self against the Packers as he was indecisive throwing the football and couldn’t seem to find running lanes.
However, he didn’t receive much help from his wide receivers as they were unable to get open on passing downs.
The most disappointing player for Chicago was Chase Claypool who looked completely disinterested on the field and put together a pathetic effort running routes and blocking downfield.
According to Jay Glazer of FOX, Claypool was put on notice by the Bears for his Week 1 performance and could be off the team if his poor play continues.
Wow: #Bears WR Chase Claypool was told if he continues to show lack of effort not only would he be made an healthy inactive, he might be “Shipped out”, according to @JayGlazer on FOX.

The Bears made a significant investment in Claypool when they decided to trade a second-round pick for him at the trade deadline last season.
Claypool figured to be an integral part of the passing game as he can come down with contested catches cause of his size and frame, but so far that hasn’t been the case during his time in Chicago.
It would be a shame for the Bears if Claypool continues to disappoint given what it took to get him, but perhaps it would be better for both sides if they move on as they’ve got no time to waste.
