It isn’t pretty, but the Philadelphia Eagles have won their first two games.
But while they remain perfect in 2023, there are doubts regarding their ability to compete against better teams.
They haven’t been in sync in their victories against the New England Patriots and the Minnesota Vikings.
Their offense struggled to put points on the board, while their defense nearly allowed both opponents to erase their leads.
On the macro level, Jalen Hurts is playing to his capabilities.
He’s lucky to be 2-0 because he hasn’t looked the best at times on the field.
However, former NFL wide receiver James Jones won’t let his subpar performances pass without criticism.
Speaking with Joy Taylor, Emmanuel Acho, and LeSean McCoy on FS1’s Speak, Jones said, “Jalen Hurts doesn’t look like the Jalen Hurts of last year.”

The Super Bowl XLV champion wideout pointed out that Hurts had two turnovers in the first five quarters.
It took him seven games to reach two turnovers last year.
While he has a 71.4 completion percentage over their first two games, he averaged an underwhelming 181.5 passing yards per game.
Hurts deserved a failing mark in Week 2 if not for his big-time completions to DeVonta Smith.
The Eagles’ potent running game featuring D’Andre Swift and Kenneth Gainwell has been his saving grace.
Could he be struggling to be on the same page with new Eagles offensive coordinator Brian Johnson?
Or is he feeling the pressure as the quarterback of the defending NFC Champions?
Regardless of the reason, he’s not proving that he’s worth the $255 million contract extension he signed this offseason.
