The Kansas City Chiefs were at the forefront of NFL conversations after their Week 1 loss to the Detroit Lions.
Not only were the Chiefs without Travis Kelce and Chris Jones, but one of their newest players was under immense criticism.
Videos of Jawaan Taylor circled the internet, as fans complained about his false start problems.
While it was only called once, fans believed he committed this penalty on every play.
It appeared that the referees watched film heading into the Chiefs’ Week 2 game, as Taylor was penalized even more during this contest.
As NFL journalist Matt Verderame pointed out, Taylor was penalized five total times throughout their game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
At the time Verderame published this tweet, Taylor was only penalized four times but was flagged later on as well.
Jawaan Taylor has now been called for four penalties (illegal formation, false start, holding, holding). All legit.

Verderame wasn’t the only one to highlight Taylor’s miscues.
Fans also took to social media to express their concern with Taylor’s penalty issues.
The NFL is targeting him.
Not saying they weren’t legit penalties, but the NFL is CLEARLY targeting him now. For things he’s done for years.
Let’s see if they hold Lane Johnson to the same standard (hint: they won’t)

He needs benched foe the rest of the game. He is a huge liability today

The tackles are starting to worry me

All true. I also think he has a spotlight on him this week (we all know why). No need for concern at this point.

He needs to play perfect for a while until they stop staring at him. He is on the Officials Radar after that debacle of opening night

Fans were quick to call Taylor out, and many even asked for him to be benched.
Taylor was the Chiefs’ attempt to replace Orlando Brown Jr. after they were unable to retain him in the offseason.
While he only has two weeks under his belt, Taylor has a lot of work to do.
He is viewed negatively in the court of public opinion, and it appears the NFL’s referees are watching him closely.
This is a situation for the Chiefs to monitor moving forward, especially as they are on their quest to defend their title.
