After winning the first two games of the 2023 NFL season against the Tennessee Titans and Carolina Panthers, the New Orleans Saints seemed to be on a roll to start the Derek Carr era in the Big Easy.
Early in the game against the Green Bay Packers in Week 3, the Saints were rolling once again as they had control of the game until Carr went down with a shoulder injury and was ruled out for the game.
The Packers then pulled off a miraculous comeback in the fourth quarter by scoring 18 unanswered points and beating New Orleans by one.
Even though the loss was disappointing, especially after having the lead for most of the game, Carr’s health was the primary concern, as he could miss considerable time.
However, it appears that Carr could actually play this week against the division-rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but he won’t do anything to hurt the team, according to Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football.

With the matchup versus the Buccaneers being a divisional game, it will be crucial for the Saints to come out on top, especially with three teams in the NFC South having identical 2-1 records.
In three games thus far for the Saints, Carr has thrown for 636 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions with a passer rating of 85.2.
If Carr can’t go against the Buccaneers in Week 4, the Saints will likely turn to Jameis Winston to shoulder the load under center.
Winston filled in for Carr in the loss to the Packers and threw for 101 yards, completing 10 of 16 passes.
