While it wasn’t surprising to see the New York Giants beat the Arizona Cardinals, the way it happened was a bit of a shocker.
The Cardinals were up 20-0 by the end of the second quarter, and the Giants struggled mightily as they had done vs. the Dallas Cowboys in their season opener.
That’s why RB James Conner was so livid after Jonathan Gannon’s team blew a 21-point lead late in the game to take their record to 0-2:
“I’m really sick to my stomach,” Conner said. “I’m hurt. Not discouraged, but I am hurt for sure. We’re in this thing together. We put up a few more points than last week, but it still wasn’t enough.”

The Cardinals had gotten off to strong starts and even led at some point both weeks, but they’ve crumbled under pressure both times.
One could say that they’re not that invested in winning this season, and they wouldn’t mind getting that No. 1 pick to try and get USC star Caleb Williams.
Nonetheless, even teams that try to lose on purpose usually wait until later in the season to start imploding this way.
The Giants, on the other hand, got a much-needed and very emotional win after looking out of sorts in the first half.
It took them six full quarters to score their first points of the season, which is not what you’d expect after making such a big financial investment at the quarterback position in the offseason.
Coming back from such a huge deficit was impressive, but they were outscored 60-0 before finally being able to move the chains.
Brian Daboll has plenty of adjustments to make and not a lot of time to do it before their Thursday Night matchup vs. the San Francisco 49ers.
As for the Cardinals, this could be a very, very long season.
