If something is going to happen with Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers, it’ll have to be soon.
Training camps are rapidly approaching and the new season is just a little more than a month away.
While everyone knows that Lillard wants to play for the Miami Heat, it’s become clear that the Blazers aren’t satisfied with what the team has offered.
But will they end up taking it anyway?
That is what NBA analyst Hardwood Paroxysm believes.
They tweeted that the Heat will end up getting Lillard for “a bad package” because it’s always been a bad package and those inside the Blazers organization are too optimistic in believing in GM Joe Cronin.
Will reassert what I’ve said.
They’re going to get him for a bad package. The starting package is bad, and they’re not going to give up the entire available package because of their leverage position, which is why they’ve worked SO hard to establish it through media. https://t.co/6HbEhYAfNy

They believe that Cronin has the faith of the entire team but ultimately the Heat will get their way and Lillard will be playing in Miami.
To be fair, the Blazers could still get a lot of assets if they agree to what the Heat have offered.
They would get several prime draft picks, which could help them build a strong future.
They could either trade those picks for other talent currently in the league or start the process of rebuilding in a post-Lillard era.
The Blazers have the upper hand and the media agrees with that, as noted by Hardwood Paroxysm.
But they also have a limited number of choices in this situation.
That’s because Lillard has made his wishes clear and will only really be happy if traded to the Heat.
Therefore, other teams aren’t even attempting to sign the iconic guard.
This could all eventually lead to the Blazers settling on what the Heat give them, even if it’s not what they originally desired and expected.
