Since the start of summer, fans of the Miami Heat have been eagerly waiting to see if Damian Lillard would move from the Portland Trail Blazers to the Miami Heat.
That was his goal, according to numerous reports, but it didn’t end up happening.
Instead, he is now playing for the Milwaukee Bucks and the Heat missed out on the superstar.
It’s not the first time something like this has happened to the Heat.
In fact, as noted by Evan Sidery, this is a recurring problem for Miami.
He said that over the last few offseasons, the Heat have been on the shortlist of multiple superstars: Donovan Mitchell, Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal, and now Lillard.
They have failed to land any of them.
“It’s time to rightfully criticize Pat Riley and Co.,” Sidery said.

In consecutive offseasons, four superstars had the Heat on their shortlist of preferred destinations: Donovan Mitchell, Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal, and Damian Lillard.
For Miami to somehow not land any of them is a failure of epic proportions.

For decades now, Riley has been viewed as one of the biggest NBA masterminds of all time.
His knowledge of the game and how front offices work during trades and negotiations is second to none, according to many.
But Riley and his team have now missed out on several huge names that could have been very consequential for the Heat.
What is to blame for these situations?
The team has plenty of assets and many reasons why players would be drawn in.
So it is surprising that they haven’t been able to secure a single one of these A-list players.
The Heat have still done quite well over the last few years, making it to the Finals last season and the Eastern Conference Finals the year before that.
But that is another reason why it’s shocking that none of these players came down to Florida.
They have a lot going for them so why can’t the Heat attract more talent?
