The Detroit Pistons were blown out by the Toronto Raptors on Sunday 142-113, bringing their current season record to 2-12.
Once again, the Pistons are the worst team in the NBA.
Instead of denying this and feigning optimism, Pistons star Cade Cunningham was very honest about his team.
According to RealGM, via NBACentral, Cunningham said:
“We got to be realistic about the situation. It’s hard to just be like, ‘We’re good, we’re good,’ you know what I’m saying? Because we’re bad. We have to address that. We have to address what we’re not good at. Address it with not only our words but on the court, in the huddles.”

Cunningham himself is having a good season, with an average of 21 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 7.1 assists.
And there are other stars with plenty of potential on the team, including Jaden Ivey, Isaiah Stewart, James Wiseman, and rookie Ausar Thompson.
Additionally, they have one of the most respected coaches in the league, Monty Williams.
Despite all of that, the Pistons are in horrible shape right now, having only beaten the Charlotte Hornets and Chicago Bulls weeks ago.
They have now lost 11 games in a row and are about to face tough teams like the Denver Nuggets and Indiana Pacers.
Cunningham, his team, and Williams will need to get honest in the weeks and months ahead.
The season is young but most everyone agrees this won’t be the year they return to the playoffs.
However, if they come together, lay a strong foundation, try some new things, and commit to Williams’ vision, the team could be good in the future.
Some people hoped this would be the season that Detroit turns things around but that seems very unlikely right now.
