With MLB games tending to have a lot of downtime or time between plays, the league has decided to go with a unique way to make the game more entertaining during times that might seem boring.
MLB has mic’d up players while they’re playing in the field, which has definitely made things a bit more interesting in a professional sport that struggles to keep the attention of its fans or make new fans in the modern era.
During a game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants, infielder Miguel Rojas showed why being mic’d up on the field can be so entertaining, as he had to make a play while talking to the commentators in the booth and hilarity ensued, which drew the attention of Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James.
James let it be known that he wants the NBA to adopt the mic’d up segment, which could be fairly entertaining in the NBA, via Ball Don’t Lie and Yahoo Sports MLB.

It’ll be interesting to see if the NBA considers doing this, even though the league does have players mic’d up at times, but doesn’t have commentators directly communicate with them when there out on the floor.
The pace of the NBA game might be too fast to implement something like this, but it’s not beyond the realm of possibility, as the league could and most likely would get creative with it.
With James being the player that suggests the league give it a try, it wouldn’t be all that surprising to see Adam Silver and company give it a shot.
