After years of toiling in mediocrity, the Washington Wizards have finally accepted they have to rebuild from the ground up if they hope to compete someday.
The Wizards are projected to be one of the worst teams during the 2023-24 NBA season, though that’s not necessarily a bad thing as it would guarantee themselves a high draft pick and a chance to find their next star player.
Washington made the tough decision to trade away Bradley Beal to the Phoenix Suns, though they weren’t able to net as much as they would’ve hoped given the star guard’s enormous contract.
However, the Wizards did decide to bring back Kyle Kuzma in free agency in order to retain some level of respectability and continuity on the court.
Kuzma’s blossomed into a quality starter since coming to Washington and he’ll be one of the leaders on the squad given the years of experience he has.
The forward has never been shy to speak his mind and he shot back at Jabari Parker who recently criticized the NBA via his Twitter account.
“This trend of players going overseas and saying something about this League ain’t it!!” Kuzma tweeted.

Although Parker’s words are harsh, he does have a bit of a point as there is a clear faction of teams that are all-in for a title and another that is going to be tanking for draft positioning.
“I just want to be a part of something legitimate. I want to be a part of ‘every game matters’. Sadly, the NBA is a business and there are 10-12 teams that try to win every game and the other half try to get a Draft pick.” Parker said
However, for players like Kuzma who still treat every game as a must-win Parker’s comments can definitely be taken as offensive.
Unfortunately for Kuzma, the Wizards do fall in the bucket of a lottery team and they’ll likely be hearing their name called on draft night a lot sooner than the rest of the league.
