The New York Knicks look to be all-in on the 2023-24 NBA season as they swung a blockbuster deal for O.G. Anunoby.
The Knicks sent out Immanuel Quickley, RJ Barrett and a 2024 second-round pick in exchange for Precious Achiuwa, Malachi Flynn and Anunoby.
It’s quite the haul for the Toronto Raptors given that Anunoby was effectively an expiring contract given that he has a player option for the 2024-25 NBA season.
For New York, losing talented pieces in Barrett and Quickley might hurt in the long-term, but there’s no doubt that Anunoby raises their ceiling for this season.
The talented 3-and-D forward should be able to come to an extension with the Knicks given his ties to team president Leon Rose and his former agency CAA.
Shortly after the deal was made official, Rose issued a statement about Anunoby’s arrival via Ian Begley of SNY.
“O.G.’s complete offensive game and ability to defend multiple positions will enhance our team on both ends of the court,” Rose said.

Anunoby was being chased by every contending team in the NBA, but Rose came up with the best offer for his services.
The forward’s market was likely impacted by his pending free agency, but Rose and the Knicks likely have the inside track on an extension if they were willing to pull the trigger on a deal months before the NBA trade deadline.
For now, a potential starting lineup of Jalen Brunson, Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo, Isaiah Hartenstein, and Anunoby is about as good as any other five on paper around the league.
