Over the last two decades, the Memphis Grizzlies have become a very important part of Tennessee’s culture.
Compared to others, they are a relatively young team, and that has led some to question what their future will hold.
Recently, NBA star Evan Turner told JJ Redick that the Grizzlies should relocate to Nashville, Tennessee at some point.
Redick agreed with that statement – but he is now apologizing.
He took a moment on his podcast to say sorry to Memphis and its loyal fanbase and recanted his statement.
“Memphis has a soul, a culture. The Grizzlies should never leave Memphis,” Redick said sincerely.
On today’s episode of The Old Man and the Three Things, @jj_redick issues an apology to the Grizzlies fanbase.

This entire situation started when Redick had Turner and Golden State Warriors icon Andre Iguodala on the show.
He asked both players what teams should move around the league and Turner suggested that the Grizzlies pack up and move to Nashville.
Redick immediately agreed, something he regrets now.
The Grizzlies landed in Memphis back in 2001.
They were originally the Vancouver Grizzlies but applied for relocation, which the NBA approved.
At the time, some fans of the team were upset at the move because it left the Toronto Raptors as the only Canadian team in the NBA.
But over the years, the Grizzlies’ fanbase has grown to love Memphis – and Memphis residents have whole-heartedly accepted the team.
The team has been through a lot since 2001 but they are arguably the best they have ever been right now.
With stars such as Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr., Desmond Bane, Steven Adams, and now Marcus Smart, the team is poised to have another impressive year.
They are one of the most exciting, young teams in the league.
And fans are hoping they stay put in Memphis for a very long time.
