NBA training camp is set to begin in just a few weeks and the Portland Trail Blazers continue to be one of the teams to monitor as they sort out what to do with Damian Lillard.
Lillard requested to be traded earlier in the offseason and the Trail Blazers have been sifting through offers for the superstar.
So far, the Miami Heat have been the only team that’s been seriously pursuing the All-Star guard as he made it known that Miami is his preferred landing spot.
However, the two sides have been unable to come to terms on a trade as Portland has reportedly been uninterested in the packages proposed so far.
At this point, it’s hard to imagine any other team prying Lillard away from Portland so it feels like a matter of time until he ends up in Miami.
To that end, it sounds like the Heat have stepped up their offer as there’s reportedly been progress made on a trade via Greg Sylvander of Five On The Floor.

Trading away a franchise superstar is never an easy thing to do and the Blazers have done the right thing by being patient and waiting for a better offer.
Miami may be short on draft picks to send out in a blockbuster, but they could get creative by roping in a third team to get the assets required.
There may be some urgency to get a deal done before training camp starts so both franchises can move forward, so it’ll be interesting to see how quickly things move in the coming weeks.
