On Wednesday, the Milwaukee Bucks made a move that sent shockwaves throughout the NBA, as they were able to pull off a three-team trade in order to acquire superstar guard Damian Lillard.
As a result of the Bucks bringing in Lillard to pair with fellow superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee sent veteran guard Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers.
With the Blazers rebuilding around rookie Scoot Henderson, Portland intends to trade Holiday elsewhere, which would likely be his wish as he’ll want to contend in the twilight of his career rather than be a mentor to young players while he can still play at a high level as one of the best two-way players in the game.
That said, Holiday is expected to draw considerable trade interest around the league, with Shams Charania of The Athletic claiming that he’ll receive interest from title contenders, as well as the Toronto Raptors, via The Rally.

If Holiday can land with another title contender, he can be a game-changer for a team like the Miami Heat or the Boston Celtics, as he’s still a starter and continues to make an impact on both ends of the basketball floor.
Teams with title aspirations, especially ones that missed out on Lillard, will likely throw their hats in the ring in an effort to bring in Holiday, as he can instantly make a team that much better defensively.
With the Blazers needing to act quickly, it’ll be interesting to see where Holiday lands and the impact he’ll have on that team during the upcoming season.
