The Portland Trail Blazers are getting plenty of interest and trade offers for Damian Lillard.
However, judging by what we’ve seen thus far, it seems like GM Joe Cronin has little-to-no interest in getting guards in return, as he’s reportedly snubbed trade offers involving both Zach LaVine and Tyler Herro.
Per former NBA player Antonio Daniels, that’s not a reflection of how they feel about those particular players, but a reflection of how high they are in their own guards, namely Anfernee Simons, Shaedon Sharpe, and Scoot Henderson.
With that in mind, Daniels said on SiriusXM NBA Radio that acquiring Deandre Ayton would make a ton of sense for the Blazers, as he could fit in the middle alongside Jerami Grant and create a nice inside-out game with their plethora of young guards.
Could DeAndre Ayton be involved in a Damian Lillard trade?

Of course, he also adds that it would be interesting to see what other pieces the Blazers could get in this trade.
Also, it’s more than evident that the Phoenix Suns wouldn’t be able to absorb Lillard’s massive contract, or at least not without making some other big moves, so chances are that Ayton would only be involved in a multi-team deal.
Whatever the case, it seems like the Miami Heat are no longer in pole position to acquire the multi-time All-Star.
Trade talks will continue to ramp up as we inch closer to training camp, and it might be just a matter of time before we see the Weber State product taking his talents somewhere else.
