Jaren Jackson Jr. of the Memphis Grizzlies just had perhaps his best season yet.
The big man put up 18.6 points and 6.8 rebounds a game, as well as a league-high 3 blocks.
This earned him his first Defensive Player of the Year award.
If Jackson is able to nab that prize again, he will also be eligible for a massive payday.
Bobby Marks, via NBACentral, is reporting that Jackson is eligible for a five-year, $318 million supermax extension if he wins Defensive Player of the Year again next season.

That is undoubtedly a lot of money and really shows how the new rules and regulations within the NBA are allowing astonishing salaries.
Online, fans were shocked to see Jackson’s potential payday.

Many others felt that Jackson isn’t worthy of making so much money.
They accused Jackson of robbing the team if he agreed to this increase in pay.

There are plenty of fans who are still bitter about what they perceive as a poor performance from Jackson in the FIBA Basketball World Cup.
While there were quite a few problems with Team USA’s roster, some people believe that Jackson’s lack of defense cost them a medal.

Jackson really did have a strong 2022-23 and was worthy of the praise and the awards he received.
But can he keep it up?
Will he make fans happy as he did last season or disappoint them like he did during the World Cup?
If he can deliver, he will be earning an eye-popping sum of cash.
