Not so long ago, the Brooklyn Nets hoped Ben Simmons could give them some elite defense and playmaking.
Then, they hoped he could at least be a secondary ball-handler.
Now, they could settle with him giving them anything at all, at least ten minutes a night.
Simmons continues to sit with a back injury that has kept him on the shelf for most of his tenure in Brooklyn.
Some fans may not even remember that he’s still on the roster, but that hasn’t stopped him from working restlessly to try and get back on the floor.
He recently shared a clip of him working out and talking about how he’s never going to give up (via Billy Reindhart and NBA Central).
“For me, I’m just not going to stop. I just don’t have that in me to stop,” Simmons said.
“There was a point when I got hurt this season, I was like ‘holy sh*t, I don’t know if I could do this again’… it’s just something in you. For me, I’m just not going to stop. I just don’t have that in me to stop.”

Actually, people have questioned Simmons’ character since his days at LSU.
Scouts weren’t so sure about his coachability or ability to be held accountable.
The way he forced his way out of Philadelphia also left a lot to be desired.
Then again, he does deserve plenty of credit for continuing to push through this and getting back on his feet over and over after so many injuries.
Unfortunately, he just might never be healthy enough to make a big impact on the court again, and the Nets will have to make some tough decisions about him sooner rather than later.
