The Los Angeles Lakers played their recent matchup against the Utah Jazz without their 39-year-old superstar LeBron James.
In James’ absence, the Lakers suffered a 125-132 defeat at the hands of the Jazz.
Although the Lakers failed to win the crucial matchup against the Jazz, the performance of D’Angelo Russell was undoubtedly a silver lining for the team.
In fact, during the postgame conference, Lakers star Austin Reaves heaped huge praise on his veteran teammate via Spectrum SportsNet on Twitter.
“It’s an honor to share the court with him,” Reaves said.

There have been times when D’Angelo Russell has been on the hot seat due to poor shooting from the floor that contributed to multiple losses for the Lakers this season.
However, during the game against the Jazz, Russell was at his best as he contributed 39 points, 3 rebounds, and 8 assists in 41 minutes of playing time.
Russell’s scoring outburst came thanks to his 15-of-26 shooting from the floor, including 6-of-11 shooting from the three-point line.
Unfortunately, despite having a sensational performance, Russell and the Lakers fell against the Utah Jazz as their woes continued in the 2023-24 NBA season.
Following the seven-point defeat, the Lakers remain the 11th seed in the Western Conference with an underwhelming 19-21 record this season.
On the other hand, the Utah Jazz climbed to the ninth seed in the West as they now have a 21-20 record this season.
As for the Lakers, they are in desperate need of a comeback this season if the franchise wants to have any shot at reaching the 2024 playoffs.
