The Minnesota Timberwolves seem to be stuck in a vague place between not being good enough to compete for a playoff spot and being good enough to contend for the NBA championship.
However, they have one great thing going for them — Anthony Edwards.
The 6-foot-4, 22-year-old guard could be on the verge of getting onto a higher plateau in terms of his production and overall game, and this season, he will switch from jersey No. 1 to No. 5.
He was seen rocking No. 5 when the Timberwolves held their annual media day ahead of the start of training camp, via NBACentral.

Edwards is only going into his fourth pro season, but he made the All-Star team for the first time last season, and the sky seems to be the limit for him.
He averaged 24.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.4 assists a game during the regular season, then elevated himself to 31.6 points a game in Minnesota’s five-game loss in the first round of the playoffs to the Denver Nuggets.
He is one of the league’s most confident players, and he has said he will soon become the best player in the world.
It has been said that confidence is half the battle, and for someone as naturally talented as Edwards, believing he’s the best player around could, to a certain extent, become a self-fulfilling prophecy.
The Timberwolves seem to have an ill-fitting roster, so they may need Edwards to be the best he can be if they are to make some noise in the playoffs any time soon.
