The NBA offseason has seen many players get paid massive contracts.
Some have been well deserved and some have not.
But with all the money free agents are commanding, teams have no problem overpaying for a player they need.
That seems to be the case with the Boston Celtics and Jaylen Brown.
Both sides have agreed to a deal that will make Brown the highest-paid player in NBA history.
This was not surprising to see because most people knew Brown was going to get a max contract.
But, Craig Carton has taken an exception to Brown receiving this contract.
He mentioned how Brown is “not even the best player on his team,” via his show.

Carton is not wrong about the best player on the Celtics.
That honor goes to Jayson Tatum, who has been more productive and more dependable over the past few years.
Being the highest-paid player in history comes with some serious expectations.
Last season, Brown averaged 26.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game.
Yet, he failed to come through in the playoffs, which saw the Celtics get sent home in the Eastern Conference Finals.
In Game 7, Brown shot 8-23 from the field and had eight turnovers in the game.
Certainly not the performance you want from the highest-paid player in history.
The Celtics knew they could not let Brown leave.
So giving him this monster contract was the only answer.
Now all they can hope is that the best is yet to come for the 26-year-old.
