The Baltimore Orioles are one of the most traditional and historically relevant franchises in the American League.
They have won seven pennants and three World Series championships in 1966, 1970, and 1983.
They have had stars such as Cal Ripken Jr., Eddie Murray, Rafael Palmeiro, Mike Mussina, Jim Palmer, Frank Robinson, and others wearing their uniform.
That’s why their status as one of MLB’s worst teams from 2017 to 2021 hurt lots of fans.
In that dark period, Baltimore made losing 100 games a routine.
Those days are now over, though.
The Orioles began their resurgence last year with an 83-79 record, and they have now returned to the postseason this year for the first time since 2016.
The O’s have the best record in the American League at 93-56 and look likely to surpass 100 victories for the first time since 1980.
They punched their ticket to the playoffs over the weekend with a victory against the Tampa Bay Rays.
MLB’s official Twitter account posted a video of the Orioles celebrating in their clubhouse after confirmation that they will be in the October party.

Fans are finally watching a competitive Orioles team after some really obscure years.
The organization hit rock bottom in 2021, with a 52-110 record.
It’s incredible to think that they are now about to win 100 games, just two years after that horrible performance.
They have a solid generation of talented rookies, led by Grayson Rodriguez, Jordan Westburg, Gunnar Henderson, Heston Kjerstad, Colton Cowser, Yennier Cano, and others.
They don’t have the best rotation, but it’s very competent, and combined with their impressive offense (with young stars such as Adley Rutschman, Cedric Mullins, and Anthony Santander leading the way) and lights-out bullpen, they have what it takes to succeed in October.
