The Detroit Tigers have nothing to play for in the final week of the regular season in terms of the playoffs.
But, they do have someone to play for in the final week.
That is legendary hitter Miguel Cabrera.
Tuesday begins the final homestand of Cabrera’s career at Comerica Park in Detroit.
He has done everything a player can hope for in an MLB career.
Cabrera is a two-time MVP, 12-time All-Star, one-time World Series champion, and even hit for the triple crown.
The fans of Detroit should show out in plenty to celebrate the career of one of the greatest Tigers of all time.
According to MLB, Cabrera has elite numbers when hitting at Comerica Park.
He has a .319 average with 190 home runs, 702 RBI, and an OPS of .932.

Cabrera started his career as a member of the Florida (Miami) Marlins.
But, Detroit has been his home for the last 16 seasons.
Even though he was not a homegrown player, Detroit became Cabrera’s home very quickly.
It will be fun to see how he plays in his final series.
Even at the age of 40, Cabrera has hit the ball well this season.
In a part-time role, he has hit .252 while adding 80 more hits to his career total.
For those keeping track that gives Cabrera 3,168 for his career.
This three-game series in Detroit should encapsulate everything he has done for the city.
Five years from now we will see him again as he enters Cooperstown as a member of the Hall of Fame.
