The New York Mets may be starting to show a little bit of life in the midst of their trying season.
On Wednesday, they got a strong performance from their starter in right-hander Kodai Senga.
Senga went eight innings and allowed just one run on four hits while walking only one batter and striking out 12 Arizona Diamondbacks hitters.
His efforts earned him his seventh win of the year as he lowered his ERA down to 3.31.
On Twitter, MLB posted a graphic featuring Senga’s line from Wednesday night’s performance against the young upstart Diamondbacks, which shows just how dominant the right-hander was.

Senga certainly delivered a strong performance when the Mets needed it the most.
The Mets came to within six games of .500 with their win and even gained ground in the Wild Card race.
New York is now just 6.5 games behind the Philadelphia Phillies for the final Wild Card spot.
Senga’s strong performance could ultimately give the Mets the lift they need as the first half of the 2023 regular season draws to a close.
Senga has been one of New York’s most reliable starters this season, and he helped the Mets run their winning streak up to four games.
The first half certainly has been disappointing for the Mets, but they appear to have a shot at finishing the first half on a high note.
They remain 18 games out of first place in the NL East, but they now have a chance in the Wild Card race, and Senga’s performance could help give them a lift.
