Juan Soto is the San Diego Padres‘ best hitter.
He also happens to be the hottest of them all, at least according to data from MLB stats expert Sarah Langs.
“Juan Soto has reached base in 29 straight games in that span: .362/.473/.724, 11 HR, 32 RBI,” she tweeted.

Unfortunately, the rest of the team hasn’t always produced, they have lost too many head-scratchers and one-run games, and are about to be left out of the postseason as a result.
The Padres are 78-80 and their elimination number is one.
It means that if they lose, or the Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, or Miami Marlins win (twice), they will be officially eliminated from postseason contention.
As Soto said himself, he wished the season had one more month.
If that was the case, the surging Padres (they have won eight of their last 10 games) would probably sneak into the playoffs.
But the 2023 campaign ends on Sunday, and San Diego just ran out of time.
A team that spent millions of dollars in the last offseason and one that has a +94 run differential is about to complete one of the most disappointing performances in recent years.
Soto, on the other hand, has had a brilliant season like he is used to, and looks ready to cash in after the 2024 campaign, when he hits free agency.
In 2023, he is hitting .276/.410/.524 with 31 doubles, 35 home runs, and 108 RBI.
His OPS is a cool .935.
Soto is still 24 and already has 160 home runs and a .947 career OPS.
We can say with confidence that the hitters who are legitimately better than him can be counted with the fingers of one hand.
