The Cleveland Guardians were hoping to have a strong season this year.
Not only did they want to get back into the playoffs, but they wanted to do it for manager Terry Francona.
This will be the legendary manager’s final year in the dugout.
He did not publicly state that he is retiring only because he did not want the attention on himself.
However, Guardians players and fans gave Francona a special standing ovation before his final home game.
According to MLB, the ovation was great for both the players and fans.
Francona deserves all of the love he is getting for what he did for the game and that city.

Cubs fan here, I give my congratulations to a hell of a career. Deserves to be in the Hall of Fame as an inductee the first time he’s eligible.
